Most people call us describing a symptom rather than a service, which is fine. Here is the short version of how the symptoms map.
A hole, a crack or a dent is drywall repair, or patching if it is small and there are several of them. A crack that keeps coming back in the same place is usually the house moving rather than the drywall failing, and we will tell you that rather than patch it twice.
Brown rings, soft board or a musty smell is water damage, and the source has to be stopped before any drywall work starts. A ceiling that sags or dips between the joists is ceiling repair, and it is frequently a board thickness problem rather than damage.
Bare framing in an addition or garage conversion is installation. Board that is already hung but not finished is taping and finishing. A patch that is structurally fine but visibly a different texture from the wall around it is texturing.
A bumpy ceiling you would like gone is popcorn ceiling removal, and if the house predates the early 1980s it should be lab-tested before anyone scrapes it. Paper you want off the walls is wallpaper removal and wall prep. Metal stud framing, rated assemblies or a tenant build-out is commercial drywall.
